1048 stairs to the top

Exhausting hike up a couple stairs in the sun for an amazing view before visiting a light house and another beach

On the first day with our rental car we drove to the east of the island and visited the famous Koko Head, Makapuʻu Point Lighthouse and Waimanalo Beach.

We started early to try avoid the heat climbing up the 1048 stairs to the top of Koko Head. It was an old railroad that the army used to deliver equipment to the bunker on top of the mountain. The views up there where totally worth it!

After we walked all the stairs back down we drove to the next highlight of the day: the Makapuʻu Point Lighthouse. Even though you cannot access the lighthouse itself, the hike around it is very nice with a good vie on the ocean and even other islands of Hawaii.

Last but not least we stopped at the Waimanalo Beach. Compared to Honolulu there were very little people and it was a great beach to chill for a little.

Since the sunsets are on the other side we drove back to Honolulu for Sunset
