Spontaneous Hiking Trip up the Hudson river
About 1:30h north of New York by train is Beacon. A small town on the Hudson, which is known for good hiking, good bars and small shops. So perfect for a nice daytrip to escape the big apple. We decided to go up the Beacon mountain and climb the Watchtower. The 6mile long hike was great and we decided to climb Mt. Beacon from the south, which included some rock scrambling.
The trail itself was quite crowded as it was a nice Sunday but the further we went the less people you saw. One reason was probably that on the way up you already pass by some nice viewpoints on the Hudson river and the town.
